Why I built Shoot
Leonardo · Founder, Shoot ·
This platform idea kind of fell into my lap.
I had, and currently have, an app called Mischief. And I have (at the time of writing this) about 10 creators posting for my app, and I needed a platform to automatically track views, to allow them to submit, see how much they're earning, see other opportunities, reach out, and more.
I knew there were other platform alternatives but they were confusing to understand, or lacked the specific features I needed — such as base rate pay, or milestone bonuses.
So I was going to build one myself.
I got about half way through, got a pretty functional website, with auto view fetching, earnings calculated, and now had to clean up and get this website out there! But something made me pause...
I was building this on my own Mischief website (on mischiefprank.app) for my own creators only. But I thought “why am I limiting myself?” The reach of this website is limited to JUST my creators. What if Mischief doesn't work out? What if I want to transfer to another business? Then this platform is all for nothing?
I didn't want to build such a great website with such a massive limit on myself. How much more effort would it be to just extend it to be open to the public? A LOT, it turned out.
For now, as of writing this, Shoot is a great platform for brands to run campaigns, and for creators to post and GET PAID.
It's the only platform that, to me, made sense — that is easy to navigate, that gives the same dopamine hit as scrolling on social media, but where you can ACTUALLY be productive and make money.
Productive websites for people making money don't need to be boring. I want to expand Shoot to cater to every problem I ever had trying to make money online, so no other person suffers the same way.
One day there will be a world where if you want to make money online, and you don't know where to start, that means you don't know Shoot. And when you do, you will know.
