What happens when a campaign's budget runs out?
Campaigns are funded up front, and a campaign can only pay out what's in it. When the budget is fully used, the campaign closes — but nothing you've earned is taken away.
What happens the moment the budget is used up
- 1
New submissions close
The campaign stops accepting clips. Trying to submit returns a message saying the budget has been fully used.
- 2
Approved clips stop counting
Every approved clip finalises — its paid view count freezes at the most recent reading, and later views no longer add to your payout.
- 3
What you've earned is released
Your remaining earnings enter the normal release timeline straight away, sitting in the 72-hour finalising hold before becoming withdrawable.
- 4
You're notified
You get a message for the amount that unlocked, so the change doesn't just appear silently in your balance.
You keep what you earned
A campaign running out of budget never claws back earnings. It stops future earning on that campaign — it doesn't reverse past earning.
The clip that crosses the line
If your clip is the one that takes the campaign past its remaining budget, it's paid up to what was left rather than the full amount its views would otherwise have earned. There's no more money in the campaign to draw on.
Your views don't disappear
The post keeps running and its total view count keeps refreshing — just on a slower schedule, roughly every 12 hours, since nothing is riding on the exact number any more. Those views still count as reach; they just don't add to a payout.
How to avoid the surprise
Campaigns show their funding, so before putting real effort into a campaign that's been running a while, it's worth checking how much budget is left.
Frequently asked
Do I lose earnings when a campaign's budget runs out?+
No. Everything you've already earned is kept and released on the normal cycle. What stops is future earning — approved clips finalise and later views don't add to your payout.
Why did my clip earn less than its views suggested?+
If your clip was the one that exhausted the remaining budget, it's paid up to whatever was left rather than the full amount. It can also be a per-video cap or a minimum view threshold.
Can I still submit to a campaign whose budget is spent?+
No — submissions close at that point. The campaign will tell you the budget has been fully used.
Will my views keep updating?+
Yes, on a slower schedule of roughly every 12 hours, so brands still see the real reach. Those views don't add to your payout any more.

What does the Funded badge mean?
The green Funded badge means the campaign's full budget is already deposited with Shoot and held until approved work clears — so the money is there before you post.
Per-video caps and minimum view thresholds
Campaigns can set a maximum a single video can earn and a minimum number of views before it earns anything. Below the minimum a clip earns nothing; once it crosses, it earns on its full view count — not just the views above the line.
When do you get paid? The 72-hour payout cycle
Shoot pays you every 72 hours from when your clip is approved — you don't wait for the campaign to end. Each payout then finalises over a 72-hour hold before it's withdrawable.
How often are views updated?
Shoot re-checks a clip's views about once an hour for its first 24 hours, then roughly every two hours while it's still earning. Clips that have finalised — capped, ended, or budget-spent — refresh about every 12 hours, so the number you see on Shoot can lag the platform slightly.
